UAVUS has announced the appointment of Michael den Hartog, who will serve as the association’s Chief Flight Director. In this role, he will extend his technical expertise to UAVUS members and lead the organization’s consulting and seminar division that is launching in January.

Michael holds multiple aviation degrees and certifications. He first soloed at 16 years old and obtained his private pilot license at age 17.

In addition to operating his own aerial videography business, Air Operation, Inc., Michael is also the Chief Pilot and Flight Instructor for UAV service provider Soaring Sky. He has also worked at FAA ATC Kansas City Center, Auburn University, Miami Dade College, and Birmingham Airport Authority.

“Michael’s drone videography expertise and his years of experience operating in the National Airspace System as a manned pilot is invaluable to our members and the new clients of the association’s consulting division,” said UAVUS president Bob Gonsalves. “We’re fortunate that his passion for helping new drone operators aligns with ours and we look forward to the new possibilities that Michael brings to UAVUS.”

Michael is married to Joy den Hartog with three young children, all residing in sunny Fort Myers, Florida.
